God’s Stimulus Package
We see Easter as the time when we celebrate Jesus dying on the Cross. Actually, that was Good Friday. “Good” for us because it meant we can be forgiven.
Easter is about Jesus coming back to life.
Actually, there are two things in God’s complete economy that are inseparable:
- The resurrection without the cross would be impossible.
- The cross without the resurrection would be meaningless.
Here is the incredible thing about the cross. It means WE’RE FORGIVEN. Here’s the problem with the cross alone. If Christ only died…If He didn’t come back to life…Then we would be forgiven but have no hope for change. We not only need his forgiveness, we need his life change. You may know that God purchased our right to be forgiven, but did you know He created hope for real released life because He came back to life?
1 Corinthians 15:16-19, “For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more then all men.” He came back to life so that you can! We are not only forgiven; WE ARE ALIVE! God died and came back to life because we needed it not because it was a good idea.
God’s Stimulus Package: To forgive what has happened and to change what is wrong. To erase our debts and to do away with the old habits that got us into debt in the first place. You and I need God every day to live out this life every bit as much as we needed Him to be forgiven in the beginning.
